MODDING 101 — GUIDE 01
How to Change a GA-2100 Strap in 5 Minutes
The Casioak (GA-2100 / GA-2110 / GA-B2100) is the easiest G-Shock to restyle – once you know the one trick: the stock resin band uses a proprietary mount, so a 22mm strap adapter is the key that unlocks every standard strap on the market.

What you need
- A GA-2100 strap adapter (22mm is the most common)
- A 22mm strap – FKM rubber, sailcloth, nylon or a steel bracelet
- A spring-bar tool (a small flathead works in a pinch)
- A soft surface so the case never meets a hard table
The 5-minute swap, step by step
1. Pop the stock band
Flip the watch face-down. The resin band is held by spring bars at the case shoulders. Press the spring-bar tool into the gap at one shoulder, release the bar tension and slide the band stub out of the slot. Repeat on the other side.
2. Seat the adapters
Slide each adapter half into the now-empty band slots. The adapter bridges the proprietary mount and presents a standard spring bar at 22mm. You should feel it click flush with the case – no gaps, no wobble.
3. Attach the new strap
Hook one side of the strap onto a spring bar, then compress the other bar with the tool and drop it into the adapter slot. Tug the strap firmly – if a bar is not fully seated it will let go later.
4. Check the fit
Wrist it. The strap should rotate freely at the lugs with no rattle. Done – roughly five minutes from stock to mod.
Common mistakes
- Buying a strap without an adapter. The number-one GA-2100 mistake – standard bars will not attach to the resin case alone.
- Forcing the adapter upside down. The adapter only seats one way; if it fights you, flip it.
- Reusing tired spring bars. Bars cost cents – start fresh with every swap.

FAQ
Can I use a strap from another G-Shock like the DW-5600 on my GA-2100?
No. The GA-2100 mount is proprietary — its lug holes are bigger and placed differently than the square family. Only the stock band or the 22mm adapter route works.
Why does my GA-2100 adapter sit loose?
The 2100 lug holes are larger than standard. Thick OEM-style spring bars or lug reinforcers take up the play and tighten the fit.
Are thick NATO straps a problem on the GA-2100?
The slim case looks best with standard-thickness 22mm NATOs. Extra-thick ones stand proud of the lugs after the adapter conversion.
Do GA-2100 and GA-2110 use the same strap adapter?
Yes — same resin mount family, one adapter fits both.
